growing up one of my all time favorite vintage collections came from Ossie Clark. his designs were some of the reasons i got into vintage & design. he along with his wife Celia Birtwell were the power duo to there 1960's / 70's label; he designed and she designed the prints. there combination was a final product of mouth watering visual dress's any girl would love to have in there closet then and now. every time i went on my thrifting expeditions in miami, i so hoped i would run into a dress some lady just got tired of and thought nothing less then to donate it; of course that never happened.
he was part of the London designers that came out the district of Kings Road the era of the swinging sixties. his rock n' roll / bohemian clothes were coveted by many of the stars of the day.
the cut and fit of his garment were impeccable and the prints would pop out at you with great color and detail..many of Celia Birtwell's prints you see now on other vintage pieces which were probably knocked off or inspired but she was original.
they tried to revive the fashion house once more in 08 under the creative directorship of Aush Alom Gur but unfortunately closed down this year due to the economic slow down and sales. it was a pretty nice celebration to Ossie and Celia's designs but at least his collections will live on in the world off the best original vintage ever..
