ETSY UPDATE

good evening! it's 1:40 a.m. and i truly need to get some sleep..i have 4 hours to sleep before i'm back at work..but i really wanted to post tonight the 10 items posted to Etsy this week at Bella.

i am learning how to juggle a full time job while trying to keep up my small business..it proves to be challenging especially since i work in the fast paced world of fashion and full am a full time single mom of one..but i have put off long enough not doing my shop (8 years) and am putting some sacrificial time into it..translation lack of sleep!

i have many ideas i'm trying to pencil for the blog and well have tons of vintage to still get posted but you can expect weekly updates in Etsy and soon to come at Market Publique.

ZOE LOVES SQUIRRELS & I LOVE ETSY

happy saturday or for some of you sunday! this post is dedicated to my beautiful daughter Zoe...she is obsessed with squirrels and has been for 5 years now..she had to pick an animal in 3rd grade to study and she chose squirrels ever since then she's been in love with them and wants everything thing squirrel..she has a great squirrel print and a necklace i bought for her on Etsy..

i'm working on a new logo for Bella Vintage and made the above logo to have temporarily up until i finish my new one..i thought of Zoe and how she has been a source of influence in the temporary design and on the new logo design too.. i decided to do a post solely on all squirrel items she likes from my shop home and favorite online shop Etsy..

by total coincidence when i went on Etsy tonight i saw the home page display with acorn items for sale and that was my sign to do this blog for her...i found so many cutesy items and want to buy her all of them...but really i think this is for me too!

so many to choose from i could be on Etsy all day long...the fabric is my favorite as you can tell..i can think of so many things to make out of them...her birthday is coming soon...i have a feeling she'll be getting some of these items...shhhhh don't tell..

GUY STYLES THAT INSPIRE

i've done a post before on guys that inspire me, i not only keep an eye out on women styles but men too..the following guys are some of my favorites, they all have a style of there own..and some of them i have admired since my early teens through today..

Joe Strummer, i loved how he created some of his outfits..he was definitely a d.i.y. guy

David Bowie is the cameleon, from MOD to Ziggy to 80's sleek..always reinventing himself

Axl Rose i would raid his closet in the 80's, leather pants, scarfs, cool boots, layers of jewelry..i love it all

Ian Curtis, simple london cool..he's songs were poetry...

River Phoenix i so loved him growing up..i watched all his films and my walls were covered in his pictures..he seemed so down to earth and didn't seem he care about what he wore..just like he threw on what was comfortable..my favorite was his ever changing hair styles..

Johnny Depp pretty much beats to his own drum i like his bohemian twist

i noticed these guys bring something different to the table in fashion..i would be able to pick things from each of their closets to wear..and they as well influence some style in me..i'm always on the look out for great mens vintage pieces..i have a few including a Valentino..i don't intend to sell them but if my collection gets big enough i might have to!

MORE RUNWAY FAV'S

spring 2010 has so much color which i love! i'm sifting through all the designers and picking favorites..so much fun to see what's to come and then interesting how the mass market will interpret it or in some cases flat out copy it...but that's how the fast fashion industry works..and how many of us can afford these fabulous pieces..

i did not start appreciating threeasfour until a couple of years ago, i wasn't sure if they were being real out there for the sake of being out there, but no this is what they do and they do it well..i still would love to get my hands on the round bag that garnered them lots of attention a few years ago..i like their silhouettes and the way there clothes drapes and flows..and i like of the idea of owning a very limited piece of threeasfour..i'll keep dreaming...

betsey johnson..always fun always bold very betsey..she never strays and has always done her thing..i appreciate that..one of my first jobs was working in her boutique when she had one in coconut grove, miami back in 1995..i bought many pieces with our incredible employee discount and back then her pieces were not priced how they are today..dress's $60-$150..shirts $40-$60 etc..so at 16 i could afford this! sadly i cry today because many of those pieces which i could of taken out of the closet today i gave away arghhh..BUT i did keep a few...mostly my baby doll dress's which maybe my pre-teen child might eventually want to take away from me..

i see there is a bow thing going on on the runway..and in mister marc jacobs case he never disappoints...oh marc i so wish i can work for you, i love your prints, vision, vintage influence and the fun you put into your clothes...sincerely, one of your many admirers...

today is a happy day, i will be fabric shopping for some concept pieces i'm working on and Zoe's halloween costume..some chain shopping for some vintage necklaces i will be posting on Etsy soon..fun, fun, fun! aaaannd of course more vintage clothes to be posted in the shop by sunday..come by and say hi!
