so i heard the Runaway's movie is coming out, interestingly enough with Dakota Fanning playing Cherie Currie and Kristen Stewart playing Joan Jett..i did not recognize the other actress's playing the remaining Runaway's Dakota is a great actress so i'm excited to see how this movie will be portrayed..

i grew up listening to Joan Jett and adored the movie she did with Micheal J. Fox whom i at the time i had a major crush on..it was the movie Light of Day..i was 10 and what stood out to me the most was Joan's slouch, hair and how she looked playing the guitar..i also love her raspy voice..

then came my pre-teen years and Lita Ford was it! i could not get enough of kiss me deadly and her duet with Ozzy Osbourne close my eyes forever...just writing this takes me back to all those memories of singing in the mirror wanting Lita's big blond hair, ripped jeans, huge hoop earrings and studded jacket..i laugh because i was so young and that's the look i wanted..and again the guitar..i just thought it was so cool to see girls playing the electric guitar and playing it good..

then in my teen years when i got more into punk i heard the Runaways and was surprised to see it's where Joan and Lita both started..but as a girl i admired that they were a young all girl rock band, that had there own look, played all there instruments, wrote there songs all in the 1970's when it was a time where most rock bands were all male or had female lead singer...

sadly Sandy West past in '07 but the four remaining main Runaway's are still around, hope the movie tells there story well...they made many mistakes and had many hardships and obstacles but they did pave the way for many young girls to know they can rock on a guitar too!

growing up one of my all time favorite vintage collections came from Ossie Clark. his designs were some of the reasons i got into vintage & design. he along with his wife Celia Birtwell were the power duo to there 1960's / 70's label; he designed and she designed the prints. there combination was a final product of mouth watering visual dress's any girl would love to have in there closet then and now. every time i went on my thrifting expeditions in miami, i so hoped i would run into a dress some lady just got tired of and thought nothing less then to donate it; of course that never happened.

he was part of the London designers that came out the district of Kings Road the era of the swinging sixties. his rock n' roll / bohemian clothes were coveted by many of the stars of the day.

the cut and fit of his garment were impeccable and the prints would pop out at you with great color and detail..many of Celia Birtwell's prints you see now on other vintage pieces which were probably knocked off or inspired but she was original.

they tried to revive the fashion house once more in 08 under the creative directorship of Aush Alom Gur but unfortunately closed down this year due to the economic slow down and sales. it was a pretty nice celebration to Ossie and Celia's designs but at least his collections will live on in the world off the best original vintage ever..

THE DESERT AND VINTAGE

this weekend was my birthday weekend..i turned 32 on July 5th..birthdays to me are not a big deal i pretty much know how old i am according to how old my daughter is..we are 20 years apart so i tend to keep track that way..other wise i do not keep track..so no partying for me but i did do several of my favorite things with my favorite person..which is what i enjoy best.

we took a little road trip to the california desert to go do some digging in search of vintage, and boy i hit the goldmine..

i got a replenishment of vintage goodies for the shop which some of it will hit this weekend..half on Etsy half on Ebay...but i did find the greatest birthday gift of all, a gorgeous 1980's Valentino floral sun dress..i felt like a kid again in a candy shop in which i found the golden ticket..i can't wait to show it off soon on a future post.

it was quite windy, but i love these pics along with my cute Mexican embroidered top my best friend Viv gave to me on a previous birthday.

beautiful blue sky..California is a great state, no where else can i get city, desert, ocean, mountains, melting pot of culture and snow..we were in search for poppy fields that grow by the thousands which is what this desert town is famous for..but sadly when we found the fields they were not in bloom..oh well next time.

i also found this super cute 1980's Polaroid camera..

i think i had this one as a kid.

i can't wait till friday there's allot going on for BELLA this weekend..happy wednesday.
