HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween all! it's been one jammed packed weekend. Zoe's birthday party was a huge success on Friday! 8 girls at a sleep over with lots of dancing, lots of singing, lots of screaming, photograph taking, while all hopped up on sugar. it was a blast and needless to say i was exhausted.

Saturday, once the girls got picked up we had our annual mother daughter birthday lunch date and off to another party we went. all the while we have been searching for an ugly bridal dress from a thrift store we could destroy and dye black; but we had no such luck finding a decent one on the cheap. i can't believe some of the ugliest, froo froo dress's from the 80's were costing up to $50 dollars! so last minute we had to fly to the fabric store and whip up this puppy in a matter of 2 hours. and the cost was a total of $20, a much better price for something she directed me to design! 

thank goodness we pulled it off and she looked like an amazing Corpse Bride!

Happy mid-week guys! as you can see i am staying put with Blogger for now, way to much on my plate currently and in the next coming weeks.

i wanted to change my Etsy avatar and asked my beautiful daughter to model a mini shoot for me. just wanted to get a shot of the outfit and Mod camera, both in my personal collection and adore. surprisingly i love how the vintage 70's dress looks better on her then on me! we had fun with it Zoe really let go and got into the shoot, although not her style. but boy she looks great in vintage! i wanted to share the photos  and how cute she looked in my dress and shoes. she is going to be an amazing future Bella Vintage model! that's right Zoe i got dibs on you first!

MOVING BLOG HOMES!

We are back! Zoe's weekend of pre-birthday fun was a huge success! we had so much fun with Grammy (Zoe's nickname for her Grandmother) and my younger brother. it was so hard to come back because we sure do miss our family since we have none here in Los Angeles.

Bella Vintage shopping trip was also a huge success and can't wait to start posting all the fabulous vintage finds starting this week!

with that said we also have big news for our blog; we are changing homes! our blog will now be living in WordPress. i have been brainstorming on the growth of Bella Vintage along with a re-vamp and marketing for our store and social sites. i came to the conclusion for our blog site after i compared blogger VS wordpress and felt this would be beneficial to our growth; especially since i LOVE how much more user friendly wordpress is.


please bear with us through this transition which i hope will be a smooth one. i'm currently working on being able to transfer all my past blog post and followers without any glitches. meanwhile please check out future blog post here at bellavintageblog.wordpress.com. i will be starting to post as of tomorrow at our new blog home, so excited!


UPDATE: hi guys..the task above is way to much for me to take on right now. SORRY for any confusion but i need to focus on shop updates, marketing and since i also work at Misha LuLu right now it's allot on my plate. i'm staying put with blogger for now, i know the in's and out's of it. thanks for your patience on my little work roller coaster ride!

VIVA LAS VEGAS!

hi there! Zoe and i are getting ready later today for a Vegas road trip. we are very pumped because it's been a while since we've done one and it's an early birthday celebration trip for Zoe's birthday which is next Friday. she turns the big 13! in the process i will get to see my sweet mommie and a fun buying trip for Bella Vintage. i always have great buying trips there!

these pictures was taken back in 2007 when Zoe was 9. she is such a cutie and i can't believe my baby is all grown up; at least a good 70% of the way..

we will be having a blast on our way like always! jamming out to some Justin Bieber (i actually now sing to some of his songs) and some Ramones, David Bowie and other road trip favorites!

i love seeing the dessert sand floor, the rocky mountains then BAM Vegas lights..

NEW HAIR!

happy mid-week! this past weekend Zoe and I got mother/daughter hair cuts. it was sweet relieve in my end because my hair was so long, very thick and allot of hair (not complaining), but the heaviness of it was wearing me out. i really wanted to go real short but was to scared to do so because i could not visit my usual hairstylist due to a very tight budget. Zoe for a very long time has been wanting something new and fun with her's since she is now entering the teenage territory where fashion is allot more on the radar.

we went to the Aveda Institute in Santa Monica, the student center and you can get a very decent haircut for $19 buckaroos with great smelling Aveda products used in your hair. i use to go to the one in Atlanta when we lived there and i was always happy with the cuts i got. and as a single mom on a budget these places come in very handy. i hope to soon be able to visit my usual stylist for my real short cut but meanwhile this cut has been very liberating for me and Zoe. she came out of there one happy camper..i took this picture right after she got it:



she looks sooooo cute! i love the cut she can do so much with it. she's getting real gutsy with trying new hairstyles and she picked this one out herself. she can make it look real bohemian or real 80's rocker. it's been fun styling it!

MISHA LULU FALL 10!

MISHA LULU did it again, they put a twinkle in my eye with this gorgeous fall 10 collection. and again i wish some of these lovely original designs were made in my size! i love the hand made crochet on the above peter pan collar dress and the mix of different prints. the lovely jumper in the following picture would sure be a staple in my closet paired with some cute wooden clogs!

i'm pretty much in love with the whole collection and the editorial is perfection! but where once i was an admirer of this amazing kids brand, i am now part of the Misha LuLu team! as some of you may know i worked up to recent in the mass production (big retail chain stores) side of the fashion industry as a designer. and now i feel so privileged to work with a brand i am truly in LOVE with inside and out! Misha Lulu is completely original with all illustrations hand drawn by Karen (owner of Misha LuLu/Designer) down to the custom made printed fabrics. i love the use of themes and Misha Lulu world. the hand crochet details on some of the garments and the hand painted retro kitschy art on the aprons all done by two loving Grandmas. i love the combination of different prints that clash together but work so well together, Karen is just a genius at doing that! it is a reflection of her personal style too, which i love; she just has a way of mixing prints you may think would never work! she does it in such an effortless manner.

i'm excited to be able to work with my two loves of design and vintage clothes! i will continue to juggle both. and also to be working for a company such as Misha LuLu which arouses my creativity like no other company i've ever worked for before!

OUTFIT POST: PAISLEY YOUTH QUAKE

i was in a very non fuss mood on this day and nothing is easier then throwing on a mini shift dress and a cute pair of shoes to complete a very comfy outfit.

i've had this paisley number from Forever 21 for a few years now and most people ask me if it's vintage, not bad for a F21 piece. i paired it with nude kitten heels which are reminiscent to central american leather work which i love.



i also really like the color story in this dress. i feel shift dress's can make your legs look longer, i like that aspect!

these pictures are the last ones with me having long hair. over the weekend Zoe and i got haircuts, we chopped off quite allot. i'll be posting pictures soon!
