HAPPY THANKSGIVING BLACK FRIDAY SALE!

VINTAGE RACK

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! i'll be coming back with our festivities post later! although we celebrate at moms home we still get all dressed up to make the evening fun and take lots of photos for memories!

i'm actually looking forward to the outfit i will be wearing because it's a dress that i just haven't had anywhere to wear it to and with the cold weather outside it's only fit to wear it in doors to our party!

i wanted to mention that our Etsy shop is having a Black Friday sale now through Friday till midnight. Etsy just keeps getting better adding new features and i am happy to announce we now can do coupons to make discounts so much easier to give!

just use coupon code "BLACKVINTAGE20" for a 20% discount on any item in the shop. oh and also just a reminder how great it is to buy local as well on blackfriday, it beats standing in line for hours, avoiding the crowds and the trade off is buying something one of a kind!

i will be adding more items way later in the evening, while i sip on wine and end the night with a movie!

wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving!

RED BOWS AND CUTE SMILES

WARDROBE POST: RED BOWS & CUTE SMILES

I have not done a what she wore post on Zoe in ages! she has been quite the busy teen this weekend, having been asked both Saturday and Sunday to go out to see a play and dance recital.

today she wore one of my favorite outfits i like to see her in. i LOVE when she wears jeans because she has the darnest long legs; and i always enjoy seeing her in her sneakers and t-shirts too!

i haven't seen her in a skirt and dress in over 4 years, with the exception of a wedding this year. it's just one of those phases where she saids skirts and dress's bother her; she's a big comfort type of girl so she feels at home with pants and shorts.

a bit annoying for me because i see SO many cute dress's that would look so cute on her! but as of current i am trying to nudge her towards giving them a go once again. we'll see how that goes!

WARDROBE POST: RED BOWS & CUTE SMILES

she was trying to show off her new Justin Bieber bracelet here, it's a bit fuzzy. yup, she's in la la land about that boy!

i realized later that her hair was covering her tee the whole time, so you can't see the graphic on it. it's a super cute tee with the Tokidoki collaboration with Hello Kitty. i used to work for the company that used to design Tokidoki, and i have a plethora of garments i no longer wear to sell on Ebay soon. Zoe rocks it oh so cute!

it is super chilly right now in L.A. so all the hoodies are coming out of her closet once again. that's her second favorite garment she likes to live in. this Hello Kitty one she got last Christmas is just adorable, she loves it.

ETSY FAVORITES!

Hope your all having a nice weekend! i've been suffering with some insomnia for the last three days. so i've been finding myself hooked to Etsy discovering and falling in love with allot of vintage patterns and clothes.

i now have added two stores to my favorite's list along with plenty of their vintage goods. just looking at all the images makes me fall in love with vintage on a daily basis all over again.

i am a HUGE fan of vintage patterns! i've done a few previous post on them. in my Betsey Johnson post i found vintage patterns of her's HERE. it's another one of my collections and i am planning on adding some of the following to the pile.

i draw allot of inspiration from them and just love the illustrations (an art in it's self) and the fabric print in which they display the clothes on.

the store is Opals Owl Vintage. she has a great array of different patterns. these are just some favorites; i have plenty more saved in my favorites folder.

i just love how old this pattern is, it's 73 years old!

the following are a few patterns from my birth year. by looking at all the pictures of my mom and I then, yeah this was what she was wearing! i loved her style.

i'm also in love with the illustrations in these. the technique is really cute. and the hair, plain awesome. Zoe think they are scary looking, i think they are just a little over tanned!

and this one is from my childhood, ha i remember wearing these. this ones from the Gap.

now the other shop i fell in love with is simplicity is bliss. such an amazing stock of beautiful dress's and coats. another which i've placed countless favorites in my Etsy folder. so many to choose from!

vintage 1940 rose cotton dress already sold! i literally placed this in my favorites around 2 a.m last night, no surprise it was already scooped up. but i had to show it, the dress, it's details  and fabric print are so beautiful!

vintage 1950's sailor dress the picture speaks for it self!

vintage 1960's patchwork leather coat the colors on this coat are amazing!

vintage 1940's rayon floral dress i can see this guy perfectly paired with my clogs, although it's 40's it has a very bohemian feel.

vintage 1940's mink fur collar coat the color and buttons on this coat sold me.

so much to want to buy, and no spending money..*sigh*

check out both great Etsy shops at simplicity is bliss and Opals Owl Vintage.

A LOVELY COFFEE DATE WITH ADORE VINTAGE!

ME & THE LOVELY RODELLEE

I had the pleasure of meeting up with a fellow vintage peer a couple of weeks ago, the lovely Rodellee of Adore Vintage! i've been dieing to finally do one of these meet ups of someone who i got to interact with via the social networks; in this case Twitter.

we met up at lamill coffee in Silver Lake. super fun part of town here in L.A.. allot of cute boutiques, places to eat and just great people watching. i had a creme brulee latte, which really did have a layer of brown sugar fired up on top. it was quite rich for my coffee taste, i'm a straight up coffee type of gal. but i enjoyed what basically was a desert in a cup to me .

CREME BRULEE COFFEE

Rodellee was so sweet to share her french toast with me. it was not your typical soft toast, but it was a crunchy delicacy with the right touches of maple and sugar absorbed into it. i highly recommend it for you locals or those visiting the Silver Lake area.

ME & THE LOVELY RODELLEE

the meet up was a complete success having much in common. both being moms to teenage girls, running vintage on-line shops and working in the fashion industry! her step-daughter's name happened to be Chloe and of course mine being Zoe; she being 12 and mine being 13! what a happy coincidence! in our next meet up were planning on the girls meeting, we're hoping they'll have as much in common.

ME & THE LOVELY RODELLEE

she also brought her lovely friend Sade along, (she is the one taking the pictures). she herself is a very talented photographer, i've seen her beautiful editorials she's done for Adore Vintage. it was truly nice meeting such creative and VERY nice gals. that was the icing on the cake!

check out Rodellee's super cute vintage shop Adore Vintageand her BLOG is as lovely full of vintage eye candy, vintage inspired fashion and editorials she's styled!

GENERATIONS

GENERATIONS: MOM, ME & ZOE

Happy mid-week! i wanted to do a Birthday post on Zoe's birthday, but i'm way behind on post! but i wanted to share this one picture for two reasons. first, i love that we are lined up by different generations; second, it captured a very fun night on a very important birthday, Zoe's big 13! it's a picture of my mom, me and Zoe. three different generations, offspring's of that wonderful women to the left..

one memory that will always be dear in my heart was when Zoe and i were moving across country from Atlanta to Los Angeles. the trip was us three gals in the largest U-haul with my car latched on in the back. it was awesome drive on an open road, through several states, different views and several conversations. i think that's something we can check off our list to have shared with each other! Love you ZOE & MOM!

Oh yeah and in-case you are wondering, Zoe has surpassed both of us in height!

"DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME"

I love everything about this picture! love how this group of great actor's are dressed. love Molly Ringwalds 80's cool classic style. and love how John Hughes is in the middle of them. it's been over a year now since his death and it still saddens me how he left us so young.

i will miss never seeing another movie from him. although he left Hollywood in the early 90's, amazing how they still influence till this day. the soundtrack, the costume designing and the way he like no other can capture the angst of teenage hood. he loved kids and family, those were the reasons why he left Hollywood; for his own kids. even the movie Home Alone which captured our hearts with Macaulay Culkin became a big classic. he had the magic touch!

The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Pretty Pink will never get old in my book. i still remember how influential it was seeing Andy deconstructing a vintage prom dress was too me. it sparked a desire in me then. and the quote "when we grow old our heart dies" you totally can understand that. i have all his movies and always go back for a little 80's inspiration. those nostalgic things bring back so many memories...in your memory Mr. Hughes.
