RUNWAY + VINTAGE

hey guys! i have been streaming all the latest spring 11 runway shows and have a folder full of favorites. and as i am looking through all i always spot garments which i have vintage versions of. all though some might not be exactly the same, the runway look has elements of the vintage version. that's why vintage NEVER gets old!

i'll be posting some as i come across them, always love seeing each designers interpretation of these classic silhouettes..

I LOVE OUR LITTLE TOWN!

OUR BEAUTIFUL TOWN

WOWZA it's Monday all over again. todays outfit post was taken in one of the entrances to the town Zoe and I live in; it's tucked away on the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. we love our town because it's small, cozy and the mountains are minutes away (walking distance). i love how we are "regulars" in our local coffee shop which has the best chai tea latte, and how the town consist of mostly mom and pop shops. it's nice to take a stroll and have all that near by and it's fairly sleepy little city where much of nothing happens. we like it that way because in the vast city of L.A. it's nice to retreat to some quietness and still be able to be just a few minutes away..

OUR BEAUTIFUL TOWN

i was in comfort mode like most of my outings, i was on my way to Zoe's school to go build a book shelf but other mommies did most of the work! i was running late on a hectic Monday afternoon. (side note: i look like a mannequin in the above picture, i look a little funny)

JEANS: boyfriend gap jeans got in thrift for $2, jeans are a hit and miss for me since i got some curves that could be exaggerated

TOP: one of my favorite comfort tee's, vintage 70's calico cotton tee

SHOES: i'm dying for a pair of clogs which is not in my budget at the moment instead vintage 80's woven sling backs

RING: antique bubble ring

CUFF: F21

COMFY IS ALL I WANT TO BE

COMFORTABLE IS ALL I WANT TO BE

happy friday all! today's "chick night" for Zo and I, not sure what adventure we have planned today but like always it will be fun!

The above picture was just a quick snap shot Zoe too of me on a rainy afternoon. I could live in this outfit for comfort reasons but soon i would be itching to wear my skirts and dress's. my boots come in handy on rainy days like this so glad to have resurrected them. the metallic cardigan is dear to me since it's my mom's original one from the disco days. i have lots of her vintage i need to share, i'm glad i discovered my love for vintage at an early age to have been able to snag a few items. my only regret was not snagging these over-sized turtle shell fake reading glasses, yeah my mom wore them in the 80's with her big permed hair! i did not think they were cool at the time because i was immersed in the vintage baby dolls and combat boots phase in the early 90's...dang only regret. at least i got most of her good stuff! she had great style!!

CARDIGAN: 70's vintage (mom's)
TEE: Madonna Like a Virgin tour
JEANS: Abbey Dawn
BOOTS: my original 90's combat boots
NECKLACES: vintage skeleton keys (hand made by me)

INTERPRETATIONS

i'm sure we all have seen the countless interpretations of the famous John Lennon & Yoko Ono wearing all white photos. the Steven Meisel editorial of the many interpretations of musicians for Vogue was a great one and i loved the model which was used, Devon Aoki.
STEVEN MEISEL EDITORIAL

another favorite on my list is the The PowerPuff Girls episode with Mojo JoJo and Moko Jono interpretation, it's classic! Zoe & I loved it and if you can dig it up it's worth watching..

VINTAGE PICK OF THE WEEK

hi all! i am starting a new series here on the blog called as seen above "vintage pick of the week"! I will be picking a favorite item from the shop and styling it in different ways. i wanted to give a visual on how the particular item can be worn, plus it's fun to play dress up!

i was tight on time this week, a bit hectic juggling many things and wanted to show off this super cute dress in many more ways then i did; i must confess the dress was a bit tight and i was just ready to throw it off me. i felt like a robot, unable to move freely in it and became annoyed. i just might do more then one item a week but we'll start with this one..

i truly love this dress! the silhouette is amazing the seam lines are so clean and the dress over all is so well constructed. love the rayon material it's made of and the crochet collar is the icing on the cake!

VINTAGE 90's POLKA DOT BABY DOLL DRESS

this is how i would of worn it in high school although now i'm not sure if i would feel to young styling it this way. but i love my combat boots so naturally i had to throw them on with it.

this way is still very much me, i just love boots and a dress, it's my favorite; and the green tights is just a splash of color to contrast the dress.

this dress is a vintage 1990's Anne Taylor and you can find it here in the SHOP.

wishing you a lovely night..
